Natalie Zawadzki is a mixed-race, Canadian artist living in coastal Vancouver, BC (traditional unceded land of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations). Natalie is always creating: balancing a career in digital design (including neuro-imaging software for detecting brain diseases, CAD software for solar panel design, etc) outside her core passion for painting.
Natalie's art focuses on characterizing the slowing of time in nature- a human experience that both emphasizes and disguises urgent need for environmental protection. Through ink-marbling techniques that nod to textures seen in minerals and frost, her work often depicts vibrant, whimsical landscapes melting into streams of colour. Leaning more hopeful than doubtful, she encourages viewers to consider both the timelessness and longevity of our ephemeral, fragile home.
When not working on art, Natalie is out rock climbing, trail running, or mountain biking.
